Cargolux: OHSAS 18001 certification for Maintenance & Engineering
Cargolux Airlines International S.A. today announced that the airline’s Maintenance & Engineering (M&E) division has received the prestigious international Occupational Health and Safety Standard (OHSAS) 18001 certification for successfully implementing an efficient Health and Safety Management System.
‘I am proud to see the ambition and effort of the Cargolux M&E management and staff rewarded,’ said Richard Forson, Cargolux Interim President and Chief Executive Officer. ‘The OHSAS 18001 certification recognizes that our health and safety practices go above and beyond mere industry standards. As a responsible employer, we are fully aware of our obligations in this respect and keen to provide a high quality and world class service within a safe and hazard-free environment to our employees, contractors, customers and suppliers’,
The M&E team’s engagement and outstanding performance has demonstrated the importance of OHS in their daily operation, especially because it is the division most exposed to hazards and risks.
In order to obtain this internationally recognized certification, the Cargolux M&E team underwent extensive audits in a wide array of fields, including risk assessment management and legal compliance, staff training, and the usage of hazardous substances and utilization of machines, tools and equipment. The airline takes pride in its commitment to the most stringent health and safety regulations and is committed to continuously improving the effectiveness of the OHSAS 18001 standard.
Demonstrating its spirit of continuous development and improvement. Cargolux intends to further expand the OHSAS18001 certification to other divisions based at the airline’s Luxembourg hub.
