Unions Dismiss Cargolux Job Guarantee
Cargolux Management offers job guarantee against lower costs for new pilots
The Cargolux Management could not agree to the scope clause requested by the unions, because, as an outdated and highly restrictive concept, the proposed scope clause would have a negative impact on profitable growth for the company. Cargolux is not willing to make future business decisions, which it regards as essential for the continued sustainability of the airline, depending on union approval, where unions have different objectives than the company.
Cargolux, like any other company, maintains an open social dialog and is very transparent with its entire staff and involves staff in decision-taking processes through the appropriate forums, i.e. the Committee Mixed and the Board of Directors on which the employees have five representatives.
The Cargolux Management continues to focus on a CWA that results in a permanent lower level of salary costs for new hires, in particular lower crew costs, in order to assure the company’s future competitiveness, sustainability and, ultimately, survival.
Management offers an unconditional job guarantee, which has, so far, been rejected by the unions.
Because we have seen no move by the unions on this key issue during three days of negotiations this week, the Management team has requested to continue the negotiations next week.
