Cargolux highlights African market as an important part of the global network
Europe’s leading all-cargo airline joins Air Cargo Africa 2015
Cargolux will be present at the African exhibition and conference in the City of Ekurhuleni, South Africa, from 25 to 27 February. Africa is an emerging market and Air Cargo Africa is the place to be for finding synergies and business contacts to open new opportunities. The potential is high: in 2013, the exchange of goods between the European Union and South Africa amounted to 28.51 billion euros.
“The markets in Africa are especially important to Cargolux”, says Niek van der Weide, executive vice president of Cargolux, “our network here significantly supports the Cargolux business worldwide.”
Cargolux has been invested in the African market for years and offers eleven flights per week from Luxembourg to several African countries. The flights not only connect Luxembourg to the African continent, but also connect the USA directly to Africa. Cargolux operates flights to 13 different African destinations and has offices at all important trade hubs in Africa for the highest operational standard of services.
Cargolux brings commodities like automotive parts, heavy machinery for the oil and gas industry, perishables (for example flowers) and pharmaceutical products to their markets and develops tailor-made solutions for dynamic commodity flows.
“Cargolux’s African network focuses on the oil and gas industry,” tells Niek van der Weide, “Lagos, Nigeria and Accra, Ghana, are two of West Africa’s strongest energy markets, which have increasingly demands on more direct flights for its equipment and support-related items.”
African economies show strong growth with six African countries among the world’s ten fastest growing economies. At Air Cargo Africa, Cargolux shares booth 12 with Luxair, it is a good place to strengthen networking corridors with the African continent.
