BGL BNP Paribas welcomes Ian Goldin to "Doers and thinker"
For BGL BNP Paribas, the values of action and thought govern everyday activity. To promote and share those values, which are key to entrepreneurship and innovation, the bank has for ten years now been organising its “Doers & Thinkers” lecture. Guest speakers are either “doers”, leading figures from the business community, or “thinkers”, from the academic or research sphere.
Following last October’s talk by the young Dutch entrepreneur Danny Meki?, BGL BNP Paribas now welcomed Ian Goldin, Director of the Oxford Martin School at the University of Oxford. Before joining Oxford University, Ian Goldin held a number of positions among which Vice President of the World Bank. He is a former advisor to Nelson Mandela.
As Director of the Oxford Martin School, Ian Goldin leads an interdisciplinary group of over 300 researchers whose mission is to study the major issues of the twenty-first century and identify its most significant long-term challenges.
Migration is one of these challenges. Ian Goldin analysed this phenomenon is his book, “Exceptional People: How Migration Shaped Our World and Will Define Our Future”. Migration was also the subject of his conference, ‘Exceptional people – Why Europe needs more migrants’, which was held at BGL BNP Paribas. Speaking in front of a large and captivated audience, he discussed this topic from various perspectives.
