On Thursday 14 April 2016, Carlo Thill, Country Head of BNP Paribas and Chairman of the Management Board of BGL BNP Paribas, and Marc Lenert, member of the management board of BGL BNP Paribas and Chairman of the Bank’s sports and recreation association, “Cercle Amical et Sportif” (CAS), presented a cheque for EUR 4,620 to Lucienne Thommes, Chair of Fondation Cancer.

The presentation follows the participation of some 90 employees of the BNP Paribas Group in Luxembourg in the 11th “Relais pour la Vie” relay race, held on 19 and 20 March this year, as well as the sale of CAS promotional items and home-made cakes that employees were able to buy at a number of in-house events. The donation will fund Fondation Cancer's initiatives and activities in the fields of information, patient assistance and research.

Fondation Cancer works to raise awareness of the prevention and control of cancer and to foster a broad range of initiatives, scientific research projects and information campaigns. The foundation’s remit is to reduce the number of cancer cases and deaths and to help sufferers by enhancing their quality of life.

Presenting the cheque, Marc Lenert thanked the employees of the Group in Luxembourg who rallied round to contribute to the donation: “I would like to warmly thank the employees of the BNP Paribas Group in Luxembourg who contributed to this donation, notably by running for a good cause. Through their motivation and enthusiasm, we have once again been able to participate actively in the country's social life. This initiative also reflects our ongoing commitment as part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility policy.”
