Christmas holidays guaranteed despite a significant decrease in passenger traffic compared to 2019
For the Christmas holidays, Luxair offers 60% of its flights compared to the same period last year.
Although the number of passengers dropped by 2/3 between the January-November 2019 and January-November 2020 periods (see graph), Luxair maintains a relevant offer of destinations that meets market demand.
As a large majority of Luxembourg residents are expatriates, the demand in terms of travel is high for the holiday season. In the short term, customers tend to book trips to destinations with fewer health restrictions, such as the Canary Islands, Portugal or Stockholm. The majority of customers tend to go on seaside holidays, looking for relaxing times in the sun.
Luxair has therefore increased the capacity of its flights to Berlin, Milan, Venice, Stockholm, London, Malaga, the Canary Islands and Portugal.
For summer 2021, customers book trips to a wider number of destinations. Flights are already open for sale and a preview of the Summer 2021 Vakanz brochure will be available in the next few days. This will be an inspiration to many customers.
