Metaform Architects has released the espresso cup designed to protect the integrity of your crema – the rich aromatic froth that crowns your coffee.

Möbino espresso cup takes the shape of a Möbius strip - a single continuous surface that symbolises infinity. This ceramic surface is twisted into an eternal curve that allows coffee to slide along its edge and into the base of the cup in one unbroken swirl. This spiral motion retains the natural crema for a fuller lasting flavour.

Its design was inspired by Metaform’s winning entry at the World Expo in Dubai 2020 and embodies the same dynamic qualities expressed in the pavilion.

“Metaform’s main intention with this project is to highlight the honorable activity at Kräizbierg, thus helping and providing education for people with disabilities whilst focusing on social belonging. It is important to mention their motivation and high competence supporting them through their daily encounters. This is about much more than a cup...” Shahram Agaajani, Founding Partner, Metaform

Beyond the form

The cup features a double-walled structure that keeps your hands cool and your coffee hot. It is sculpted for the curvature of the thumb and palm and allows for 20ml of coffee – the optimum volume for the perfect brew.

In good hands

Möbino blends the geometric precision of parametric design with the artisan craftsmanship. It is made exclusively in Luxembourg by Ateliers Kräizbierg – a cooperative company dedicated to the professional and social inclusion of people with disabilities explained Marc Bissen, Head of Management, Ateliers Kräizbierg.“Each cup is a one-of-a-kind piece of art that is sculpted and glazed by hand in our workshop by a dedicated team of talented people.”

All of the proceeds of Möbino will go directly to the Kräizbierg Foundation to further support its ambition of providing skills and opportunities for disabled people to thrive in society.

“We are very proud that, after months of research and testing, we found an innovative solution to make this beautiful design come to life. It is a successful partnership where design meets ambitious craftsmanship. We hope you enjoy this high-quality product as much as we do.”Marc Bissen, Head of Management, Ateliers Kräizbierg
