BGL BNP Paribas: Major success for second edition of the Summer School
The second edition of the Summer School of BGL BNP Paribas, organised from 15 to 26 July 2013, welcomed 27 students from secondary schools and international schools in Luxembourg.
The Summer School is part of an innovative BGL BNP Paribas project, lux future lab, which uses training and entrepreneurial activity to make a positive impact on social and economic change in Luxembourg

Targeting 16-18 year olds, the Summer School aims to encourage young people to develop their entrepreneurial skills and think proactively about their professional future.
Over the two-week event, the students met with some 50 professionals – men and women passionate about their work and with the highest standards, the objective being to get young people to think outside of the box by showing them the broad range of career possibilities open to them and by providing individual guidance to help them find their way.
Each day focused on a specific topic, consisting of hands-on learning of useful expertise and ending with a “takeaway” conclusion. The programme also included a “discovery of self and others” section through coaching with a career guidance counsellor and team-building sessions.
The 2013 Summer School programme was packed with meetings and activities and the students were suitably enthusiastic. As two of them said: “We learned how to go beyond our limits, think in the longer term and follow our passions.” “The professionals involved – Bank and non-Bank employees – showed us that everyone has dreams and should try to make them happen.”
Commenting, Karin Schintgen, Head of Social Responsibility & External Relations at BGL BNP Paribas, said: “The Summer School is part of an innovative BGL BNP Paribas project, lux future lab, which uses training and entrepreneurial activity to make a positive impact on social and economic change in Luxembourg. The lux future lab addresses all those who are at a crossroads in their professional development, be they secondary school students who have to decide on their field of study, university students looking to set up a business project, or professionals seeking to launch a start-up. The key message of the Summer School is ‘Do what you love, and do it well’. In that respect, we sincerely hope that the Summer School will help young people to take their futures in hand by forging two key qualities: business sense and a quest for excellence.”
Given this success, and in its role as the banking partner for young people, BGL BNP Paribas plans to continue the event and organise a further session in 2014.
