Carlo Thill, Country Head, Chairman of the Management Board of BGL BNP Paribas and President of the bank's sports and recreation association, Cercle Amical et Sportif (CAS), presented a cheque of EUR 4,000 to the “Cent Buttek”, represented by Adely Thill, Annette Karels and Arthur Zeimet, at a ceremony on Wednesday 2 October 2013.

The “Cent Buttek” is run by volunteers who collect unsold food that has passed its in-store shelf life but is still fit for consumption. The food is sorted and distributed to the needy.

The donation follows on from the tenth CAS Sports, Health and Environment Day, held on 2 July at BGL BNP Paribas headquarters for the entire staff of the BNP Paribas Group in Luxembourg. The purpose of the event, which upholds the bank's long-standing commitment to provide a healthy, attractive and stimulating work environment, is to promote health and sport and encourage environmental protection. This year's theme was "Stroke Prevention", and the aim was to make employees aware of cardiovascular risks and how to prevent them through a healthy diet and physical activity.

The money collected for the “Cent Buttek” was raised by selling BNP Paribas themed items such as umbrellas, T-shirts and mugs to employees during the CAS Sports, Health & Environment Day.
