ING Luxembourg supports UNICEF-Luxembourg in the construction of a school in Zambia through its Visa credit cards
Within the context of its active policy in terms of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) ING supports UNICEF via the programme “ING Chances for Children” in order to give access to education to children all over the world.
In 2013, the Bank decided to link its CSR action with its clients and the use of its products. Concretely, ING Luxembourg donated one euro cent to UNICEF-Luxembourg for every transaction made with an ING Luxembourg VISA card throughout the year.
On 20 March 2014, Luc Verbeken, CEO ING Luxembourg, had the pleasure to present a cheque of 32,500 EUR to UNICEF-Luxembourg. This sum represents an important step in the financing of a school in Zambia. For 60,000 EUR, UNICEF will be able to build a school with 3 classrooms, including school equipment, sanitary facilities, a water pomp and cover labour and transportation costs. “Given this positive experience, ING has decided to pursue its initiative in 2014 and I look forward to seeing you beginning next year to review the situation. I am convinced that our action will contribute to finance the totality of the construction of the school”, explained M. Luc Verbeken, Chief Executive Officer ING Luxembourg.
“The continued support by ING Luxembourg will not only allow UNICEF to build a school in Zambia but also to offer children the means to take control over their lives and to contribute to the development of their country”, explains Mrs Sandra Visscher, Director of UNICEF-Luxembourg.
