Deloitte - Riccardo Illy, undisputable coffee master and president of the Illy group, energised the audience at Tuesday’s Italian business community conference organised by Deloitte Luxembourg in cooperation with the Bocconi Alumni Association Luxemb
The sixth annual conference aimed at the Italian business community in Luxembourg was organised on Tuesday 18 November by Deloitte Luxembourg in collaboration with the Bocconi Alumni Association Luxembourg, represented by the association’s president Fulceri Bruni Roccia. The artistic environment at Mudam set the tone for the conference, which was honoured by the presence of H.E. Stefano Maria Cacciaguerra Ranghieri, the Italian Ambassador in Luxembourg.
“The Italian business community in Luxembourg is dynamic and growing in quality and expertise. The conference is a perfect opportunity to meet and discuss various subjects of mutual interest and exchange ideas in an informal environment,” explains Marco Crosetto, Partner audit and Italian Business Community Leader at Deloitte Luxembourg.
The conference gathered around 100 representatives from the Italian Business community, an interesting mixture of asset managers, insurers and private bankers representing Luxembourg subsidiaries of Italian groups as well as corporate service providers active on the Italian market.
Beyond coffee
One of the absolute highlights of the conference was the speech given by the Italian businessman and former politician Riccardo Illy, president of the Illy Group, the exclusive coffee producer based in Trieste, Italy, who presented the success story of the group on its way to becoming an international global player. Another prominent speaker, Simone Basili, Managing Director of Banca IMI, Intesa Sanpaolo Banking group also came to Luxembourg for the occasion to give his views on the internationalisation of Italian companies in the construction sector.
The Italian business community conferences deal with different and multidisciplinary subjects, aimed in particular at the Italian business audience. The complex regulatory landscape in the two countries and the opportunities arising from the new regulations were described and discussed. Furthermore, as a response to the modern artwork framing the conference, a special focus was put on the Art & Finance industry and the opportunities offered by the Luxembourg Freeport, which opened its doors in September.
The speakers also discussed the forthcoming tax developments respectively in Italy and Luxembourg, as well as the current changes in the international tax environment that are expected to impact the various industries represented at the conference.
