The employees of the BNP Paribas Group in Luxembourg run for a good cause
At a reception organised on Thursday 24 September 2015, Carlo Thill, Country Head of BNP Paribas and Chairman of the Management Board of BGL BNP Paribas, and Marc Lenert, member of the Management Board of BGL BNP Paribas and Chairman of the Bank’s “Cercle Amical et Sportif” sports and recreation association, presented a cheque for EUR 5,000 to Marguerite Scholtes-Lenners, Chair of the Ligue Médico-Sociale.
The cheque was presented following the participation of nearly 140 employees of the BNP Paribas Group in Luxembourg in the Luxembourg Marathon on 30 May. To support them in their efforts, the management of the BNP Paribas Group in Luxembourg committed to making a donation proportional to the number of runners crossing the finish line. For the tenth consecutive year, the commitment of the Group’s employees in Luxembourg was harnessed to support a charity organisation.
This year, the funds raised will be used to support the Ligue Médico-Sociale. Founded in 1908, the Ligue Médico-Sociale works in the fight against tuberculosis and chronic and disabling respiratory diseases, school medicine, healthcare education and promotion, and social support services and information and advice services regarding indebtedness.
At the cheque presentation ceremony, the Chair of the Ligue Médico-Sociale was delighted to see the organisation benefit from the solidarity of the BNP Paribas Group employees in Luxembourg. The donation will be used to help families in situations of urgent distress.
Carlo Thill took advantage of the cheque presentation to thank the employees of the Group in Luxembourg having taken part in the 2015 Marathon: “I would like to warmly thank the employees of the BNP Paribas Group in Luxembourg who participated in the race and rallied to contribute to the donation that we are presenting this evening to the Ligue Médico-Sociale. This initiative reflects the bank’s commitment as part of its CSR policy.”
