Luxair acquires new Boeing 737-800 aircraft
LuxairGroup announces the acquisition of a new Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which will become operational in December 2015. The aircraft, which has 186 seats and is fitted with the Boeing Sky Interior derived from the Boeing 787, was built in 2015. It was ordered by and delivered to Air Berlin, but never flown by the airline.
Under the registration LX-LBB, the new aircraft will mainly be used by LuxairTours; it will provide some welcome additional winter season capacity.
Luxair seized this opportunity in view of the relatively long lead times orders for such aircraft currently placed with Boeing imply, with delivery taking place in 2017 at the earliest.
The aircraft flew from Berlin to Luxembourg on Thursday evening. Its maiden commercial flight is scheduled in December 2015.
