Orange Luxembourg activities : all lights turned green
Orange Luxembourg S.A. is back to growth thanks to the extension of a high quality network in 4G/4G+, convergent offers including TV over cable or internet, the full Luxembourgish mobile tariff plan “Elo” and roaming included its mobile plans
In 2015 the market environment in Luxembourg continued to be very competitive in terms of promotional activity with a clear focus on convergence, including TV and international offers. As of December 2015, Orange Luxembourg decided to stop the commercialization of anonymous prepaid cards, thereby responding to the Government request to end anonymous prepaid cards in the context of terrorism prevention in the frame of its social responsibility.
Total turnover stood at 64.8 million euros at end of 2015, compared to 62.3 million euros at the end of 2014. Excluding the regulatory impact (0.7 million for call termination rates and 2.1 million roaming regulation), total turnover increased by 8.8 %, driven by convergence and smartphone postpaid offers.
At the end of 2015, Orange Luxembourg had 139.9 thousand mobile lines, up 11.4 % compared to 2014 . Orange
Luxembourg accelerate the acquisition of postpaid customers, resulting in an increase of 4.6 thousand in spite of a
1.6 thousand customer loss partly due to stop of commercialization of anonymous prepaid cards. Encouraging, is
the continued success of Orange Luxembourg convergent strategy. Its fixed broadband internet and TV customer
base increased by 12.1 % in the course of the fourth quarter of 2015
On the network front Orange Luxembourg continued the expansion of its mobile and fixed network, thus increasing
the eligibility of its convergent TV offers to 95 % of the population and covering respectively 90 % of the population for 4G and more than 67 % for 4G+. Orange Luxembourg strengthened its leadership as an innovator, being the first operator to introduce in February 2015 a dedicated Luxembourgish plan with voice, SMS and data included in Luxembourg for an only 15€ per month subscription. Therefore the increase of the customer base and the associated revenues compensated the ARPU erosion due to such kind of plan for the benefits of the customers.
« 2015 has been a crucial year to recover with the growth, and our efforts to provide a high quality 4G/4G+ network, internet and TV to all the population on cable or via internet have been recognized from our customers. We also consider our customers by providing them what matters to them, with good network, internet and TV services no matter the technology access is. Because security is a basic need for our customers, we decided to stop anonymous prepaid card as part of our social responsibility towards them. Listening to our customers was also the trigger to provide them a full Luxembourgish offer responding to their needs, but also roaming in all the offers to allow them no to be charged when simply abroad on our greater region . We are aiming to make our customers essentials our guidance for the coming years in Luxembourg » say Werner De Laet, CEO of Orange Luxembourg.
