Doctena and DocBook merge to become leading medical booking platform in Belgium
The leading providers of online medical booking in the Belgian market, Doctena and DocBook, join forces. This merger makes Doctena a clear leader in the growing market of online medical appointments.
The DocBook team will join Doctena team. Patrick Van de Mosselaer, founder of DocBook, will assume the position of CEO of Doctena Belgium. By integrating this expertise, Doctena is strengthening its leading position in the market of online medical booking.
Patrick Van de Mosselaer, CEO of Doctena Belgium: “This merger doubled our team size and tripled our resources, to support our core mission: modernise health care and improve their access to health care for patients. We will be even more innovative and offer more services that drive efficiency in the practice, helping them to dedicate more time to their patients.”
For patients in Belgium, Doctena.be becomes the most complete and user friendly booking solution. Using one unique online agenda, they can manage their appointments with the health specialists they need (GP, dentists, podiatrists, etc.).
Towards a European platform that provides digital access to health care.
Sectors, such as the health care sector, have been resistant to digital transformation. The health care sector is now in the middle of its digitalisation.
The exponential growth of Doctena shows that patients are expecting a digitalisation of health care. Within four months (December 2015 – March 2016), the solution registered a growth of 72% in online appointment requests in Belgium.
This growth is due to a clear demand of the market, as 77% of patients want to be able to book a medical appointment online. Doctena’s technology offers many advantages to patients and doctors:
To book a medical appointment online within a few clicks from an application or from a Doctor’s website
To reduce the administrative workload of doctors and their practices: up to 90% of patients book their appointment online
To reduce the amount of “no-shows”, or patients who forget to attend their appointment
“Doctena is the leading medical booking platform in all European countries that we operate, namely Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and soon Switzerland”, explains Patrick Kersten, founder and CEO of Doctena. “Our European expansion is facilitated by two factors: our experience with different regulatory frameworks, which is essential in the medical sector, and our drive to find local partners to strengthen the efficiency and customer satisfaction.”
For the benefit of patients and doctors, Doctena keeps growing and intends to extend its activities to other countries in the forthcoming months.
