Indian Minister of Steel pays visit to Paul Wurth
This Monday, Paul Wurth S.A. was honored to welcome Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh, Union Minister of Steel of the Government of India, in its Luxembourg headquarters.
Michel Wurth, Chairman of the Board of Paul Wurth, and Georges Rassel, CEO, welcomed the high-ranking Indian delegation, which was joint among others by the H.E. Mr. Manjeev Singh Puri, Ambassador of India to Belgium, Luxembourg and the European Union, H.E. Mr. Sam Schreiner, Ambassador of Luxembourg to India as well as Joint Secretary Mr. Sunil Barthwal and Shri Prakash Kumar Singh, Chairman of Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL).
The fact that the Minister of Steel was accompanied by eminent representatives from SAIL, the largest and public-owned steel company in India, with which Paul Wurth has had close business relations for about thirty years, brought technological depth into the discussions. The focus of the exchanges was mainly on how Paul Wurth can contribute to enhance the productivity and reduce the operating cost of hot metal production units by means of targeted plant improvements. Moreover, by presenting Paul Wurth’s comprehensive portfolio in coke making and agglomeration, Georges Rassel also showed that the present collaboration with SAIL could be extended beyond the blast furnace domain. Another topic was the investigation for possible joint R&D projects with the Indian steel industry. This is also a collaboration path supported by both the Indian Steel Ministry and the Luxembourg Ministry of the Economy. These talks were continued when, after the meeting at Paul Wurth, Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh met the Minister of the Economy Etienne Schneider.
