Luxaviation Belgium unveils €4m hangar at Kortrijk-Wevelgem International Airport
Luxaviation Belgium, part of the Luxaviation Group, has unveiled its new 4,000m² hangar facility at Kortrijk-Wevelgem International Airport, Belgium
The hangar, officially opened on Thursday 17 November 2016 by Dutch violinist and conductor André Rieu, is part of a €4 million investment by the Luxaviation Group. The facility will provide space for up to 15 business aviation aircraft as well as housing the Belgian MRO facility of ExecuJet, also part of the Luxaviation Group.
Hervé Laitat, CEO, Luxaviation Belgium says: "Luxaviation sees the significant demand for business aviation in the region and has invested in the development of Luxaviation Belgium by providing this new facility. We are now able to comfortably house larger aircraft such as the Dassault Falcon 2000 and the Gulfstream V in one location, increasing efficiency and service quality for our customers. The Luxaviation Belgium team are all very proud to be part of this new development and we look forward to welcoming our existing and new customers to the facility.”
Dominiek Deman, Sales Director, Luxaviation Belgium, says: “The new hangar enables us to offer our customers, the owners of private aircraft and business jets, a very high standard of service within a modern, heated building. Larger aircraft can enter effortlessly and we have a more efficient, optimized work space for the maintenance department. We will continue to offer exceptional standards of customer service, but at a wider and more expansive level, due to the increase in the number of aircraft we can accommodate.”
Luxaviation Belgium’s new hangar is 100 meters long, 40 meters wide and 12 meters high – the largest building at Kortrijk-Wevelgem International Airport. The facility is located on the south side of the airport near the apron.
Construction of the facility has taken more than two years; Ghelamco was the main contractor. The hangar floor is covered with a shiny topcoat in waterproof epoxy. This allows any small leaks to aircraft engines or hydraulic systems to be more easily detected.
The new hangar was officially opened on Thursday 17 November 2016 by the Dutch violinist and conductor André Rieu, Patrick Hansen, CEO, Luxaviation Group, and Hervé Laitat, CEO, Luxaviation Belgium.
