Safety, Luxair’s highest priority
Last December, Luxair Luxembourg Airlines acquired a simulator destined for cabin crew and pilot emergency evacuation training (Cabin Emergency Evacuation Trainer). The device was inaugurated yesterday evening and is now ready for its first training sessions.
Passenger and flight crew safety is the highest priority for Luxair. The decision to reinforce flight crew training tools was taken with this in mind.
Last December, a new simulator destined for cabin crew and pilot emergency evacuation training (more commonly referred to as “Cabin Emergency Evacuation Trainer”), arrived in Luxembourg by special convoy.
The simulator will be used for initial and recurrent practical training courses for Luxair Luxembourg Airlines flight crew. Various types of training courses will be carried out in it, such as door training, fire exercises, on-board service, management of unruly passengers, first aid etc.
It measures 14.20 metres long, 3.76 metres wide and 2.65 metres high and is the combination of a Boeing 737 600 Next Generation cockpit, which used to belong to Scandinavian Airlines, and a Boeing 737 600 Next Generation fuselage, which used to be operated by Lauda Air and then Austrian Airlines.
The interior and exterior of the cabin have been fully adapted to Luxair Luxembourg Airlines specifications by the German manufacturer TFC-Käufer, which specialises in designing and building simulators like this one.
The machine is located at the Cargolux Training Academy. Two months were needed for installing and connecting it to all the necessary interfaces (oxygen, electricity etc.) and carrying out the final adjustments.
The simulator was inaugurated last night, during a simple, private ceremony. This tool is now up and running to welcome Luxair crew for their training courses. Other airlines may also rent the simulator for their training courses.
