Payconiq continues its European expansion in the Netherlands and Germany
The mobile payment service, known in Luxembourg as Digicash, sets course to transform European payment standard
Payconiq, the mobile payment service which recently joined forces with Luxembourg-based Digicash, is now also available in Germany and the Netherlands. The service enables online, on-the-go and peer-to-peer payments with a smartphone. After a solid start in Belgium and Luxembourg, with over 45,000 stores enabling mobile payments via the Payconiq application, the next phase of Payconiq’s European expansion is now underway. Payconiq has hereby established itself as one of the most advanced mobile payment platforms in Europe and is striving for further international expansion in 2018.
As of today, Payconiq is also available in both the Netherlands and Germany. In both countries, the first entrepreneurs and (online) retailers are now able to accept mobile Payconiq payments, both in-store and online. In cooperation with the local market leader in payment terminals, CCV, retailers in the Netherlands are assisted with the integration of Payconiq services into their existing payment systems. In Germany, Payconiq is launched in Munich with the aim of gradually building a network of consumers and retailers.
In Luxembourg, the number of active Digicash users has increased by 600% in the last 18 months. In addition to large merchants such as Total and Post Telecom, official authorities–notably the police and the Customs and Excise Administration–as well as a number of hospitals (e.g. the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg) also accept payments that are made by scanning a QR code with a mobile phone. In August 2017, Payconiq joined forces with Digicash to enable Digicash users to benefit from the full range of Payconiq services. Shortly after the merger, Payconiq moved its international headquarters to Luxembourg.
Payconiq differentiates itself from other mobile payment services by directly linking consumers’ bank accounts to the mobile payments app. A simple QR code is all that is needed to make payments in (online) stores. Payment confirmation is instantaneous and Payconiq rates for entrepreneurs are kept at an affordable and low price level. The application is available for all mobile devices and can be easily downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.
The mobile payment service aims to further expand the number of payment points across the Netherlands and Germany and intends to cross other European borders in 2018. Payconiq CEO Duke Prins says: ‘We are pleased to see Payconiq expand across Europe. Payconiq is convinced that one central app for managing all forms of mobile payments will be the future standard. Our success in Luxembourg and Belgium proves that European retailers and consumers share our vision.’
