More than a year after the introduction of the contactless fuel cards for trucks, IDS (International Diesel Service), one of Europe’s leading fuel-card suppliers and part of Kuwait Petrolium International, a subsidiary of Kuwait Petrolium Corporation ascertains the absence of any payment fraud or skimming on the new cards. The unchallenged high security level is achieved by the built-in chip as well as additional preventive measures taken by IDS.

As the market leader in fuel card security, supplying diesel for national and international transport throughout a network of more than 600 automatic filling stations in Europe, IDS was first on the market to equip its fuel cards with RFID (Radio-frequency identification) technology and real-time authorisation for each transaction. The built-in chip connected to a contactless card reader provide services are user-friendly. IDS cards guarantee the same level of protection as bank cards and therefore offer the most secure solution available on the market today. Furthermore the applied technology reduces the risk of falsification or duplication to a maximum.

IDS implemented a specialised fraud investigation team that monitors suspicious transactions 365 days a year. Any irregularities are investigated extensively and close contact is maintained with international police services.

Vincenzo Maniaci, Global card business director Q8: ‘As fuel is one of the world's most valuable commodities it remains a major target for potential fraud perpetrators. At IDS we are driven by our ambition to achieve a 100% card fraud prevention. In addition to our safe cards, a smart set of measures for fully secured transactions at 600 European stations as well as total control of the fuel cards is provided.’

Customers can manage and configure all of their truck and driver fuel cards online via iAccount, the fully-owned and easy-to-navigate card management system. The users have immediate access to their transactions, credit information, prices and network information are readily available. Bigger customers can clearly group and organise subcontractors. An authorisation at the station with an online PIN check prevents refuelling transactions that have not been pre-authorised.

A double card payment system is also available, which provides a fuel card per driver and per truck, and only validates a transaction when both cards are used together. Finally, all transactions are monitored and suspicious transactions are identified automatically.

As such, IDS is the only company on the European market with a fuel card that is fully online. IDS continuously strives to develop new technologies, which help to further enhance the entire range of services offered.
