Philip Tremble named Group Chief Risk Officer at Quintet Private Bank
Leading risk management professional to bring decades of global experience and industry insight to new role at Quintet
Quintet Private Bank, headquartered in Luxembourg and operating in 50 European cities, announced today the appointment of Philip Tremble as Group Chief Risk Officer. Tremble – who most recently served for eight years as Chief Risk Officer, Global Private Banking, at HSBC – will assume his new role at Quintet on March 15, 2021, serving as a member of the Authorized Management Committee, subject to regulatory approval.
Tremble’s appointment comes at a time when Quintet is pursuing a long-term growth strategy, entering new markets around the world, consolidating its European businesses and recruiting talented professionals across its operations. In 2020 alone, the firm hired over 350 new staff.
He is a British national who graduated with a first-class honors degree in Economics & Econometrics from the University of Sheffield. He has nearly four decades of banking experience – including over 30 years at HSBC in senior risk roles in London and New York – bringing deep risk-management skills, strong leadership and global insight to his new role at Quintet.
Tremble will replace Anthony Swings, who joined Quintet in 2002 and has served as Group Chief Risk Officer since 2018. Swings will assume the newly created position of Head of the Office of the Group CEO. In that role, he will assist Jakob Stott in all matters of importance to the firm and Stott’s agenda, supporting him in managing stakeholders and serving as a trusted partner.
“As he has proven across his distinguished banking career, through the ups and downs of many business cycles, Phil knows how to manage risk,” said Stott. “He will foster a culture where everyone – across the organization, from front to back – recognizes that they have a responsibility to manage risk appropriately, reflecting the interests of both the bank and our clients. I am delighted that he will put all his skills and experience to work at Quintet as a member of our leadership team.
“At the same time, I look forward to working even more closely with Anthony in his new role,” Stott added. “With his intelligence, dedication, collaborative spirit and strong relationships across our firm, Anthony will work with me to make Quintet an even better bank for our clients and our people.”
“There is nothing I enjoy more than being part of a team – in an open, supportive environment –driving sustainable change together,” said Tremble. “I am excited about doing just that at Quintet, a client-centric firm that benefits from the agility that comes with smaller size. I am eager to work with all of my new colleagues and contribute to the bank’s positive, ongoing transformation.”
