The SATIS Awards, organised by Génération Numérique at the SATIS 2021, reward innovations in the audiovisual sector. For its seventh edition, the SATIS has reinvented its competition to match the major issues for the industry.

“In these times of convergence between audiovisual and IP, the creativity and innovations of media companies are everywhere. It was therefore not easy to select the award-winning companies from a list where start-ups and leading companies rubbed shoulders.” Underlines Stephan Faudeux, directeur of the SATIS and founder of Génération Numérique.

The journalists of the two magazines “Sonovision” and “MediaKwest” selected BCE and Orange Business Services for the project of Radio France migrating its workflows to IP.

Looking forward to replacing its audio and video distribution infrastructures, Radio France has chosen to migrate massively to IP technology. It was important for Radio France to work with experts in digital transition as well as IP platforms. Following a call for tenders, the Orange/BCE consortium was selected. With this new infrastructure, Radio France will be able to support its studio renovation projects and setting up new production methods.

The technological evolution initiated by Radio France is based on a redundant core network. Each studio is securely connected by integrating network controllers allowing audio and video streams through Media gateways. As a leader in the integration of IP systems, Orange Business Services is focusing on the datacenter part.

BCE, pioneer of IP-based media infrastructures, oversees the media part. For Radio France the network architecture is based on the ST 2110 standard and built around a redundant IP multimedia system, connected to all the devices: directly via IP or via a gateway when the device is not IP native.

A broadcast control system manages all audio and video equipment as well as operations and a monitoring platform oversees the infrastructure to measure its effectiveness and provide diagnostics that can be used by the support team.

To date, Radio France is the first French media group to have migrated all its activities to a fully IP infrastructure.
