Allen & Overy announces first promotions in Luxembourg for A&O Shearman
Allen & Overy (A&O) has announced the promotion of two new partners, three new counsel, eight senior associates and one senior legal advisor in Luxembourg. The two new partners will join the A&O Shearman partnership upon the merger closing on May 1, 2024.
A total of 40 partners have been elected to the partnership of the combined firm, by their current respective firms. A&O elected 32 partners and Shearman & Sterling elected eight, consistent with the relative size of the two firms and their geographic footprints.
Baptiste Aubry, has been promoted to partner in the Financial Services Regulatory department and Franz Kerger, has been promoted to partner in the Tax department.
Promoted to counsel are Philippe Eicher (Real Estate), Diana Konrad (Banking and Finance) and Philippe Noeltner (International Capital Markets).
There are promotions to senior associate for: Victor Ferreira (Corporate), Nicolas Haas (Funds), Déborah Kirmann (ICM), Julian Kisslinger (Employment and Labour law), Julie Kofler (Tax), Adam Obadia (Financial Services Regulatory), Mathieu Robert (Corporate) and Eugène Welter (ICM). Khalil Boudhina (Corporate) has been promoted to senior legal advisor.

New partners:
Baptiste Aubry has been promoted to partner in the Financial Services Regulatory department. Admitted to the Luxembourg bar in 2014, Baptiste focuses on regulatory matters relating to financial institutions and asset managers (including payment services, Fintech & crypto-asset services, investment/broker dealer services, funds distribution, depositary & fund administration services, prudential & licensing requirements, governance issues and AML/KYC topics), structured products, bank lending and derivatives.
Franz Kerger has been promoted to partner in the Tax department. Admitted to the Luxembourg bar in 2013, Franz focuses on direct and indirect taxes as well as automatic exchange of information matters. He has gained significant experience in providing tax advice to alternative investment fund managers. Franz also regularly advises clients on tax aspects of Luxembourg real estate transactions and represents clients in tax litigation cases.
New counsel:
Philippe Eicher was admitted to the Luxembourg bar in 2015 and advises on real estate matters. He has been involved in some of the most prominent real estate transactions in Luxembourg over the past years. He has gained significant experience in domestic and cross-border real estate transactions. In addition, Philippe advises institutional clients and project developers on complex lease matters and construction projects.
Diana Konrad was admitted to the Luxembourg bar in 2014 and advises banking and finance clients on a range of transactions and products, with a focus on real estate and fund financing. She has extensive experience in representing both lenders and sponsors in complex and cross-border deals. She also advises institutional clients on loan and guarantee products under various EU mandates.

Philippe Noeltner was admitted to the Luxembourg bar in 2016. He brings a distinctive expertise in debt securities issuance, fintech and market infrastructure topics. He notably advises financial institutions and fintechs on the structuring and issuance of debt and digital securities and the regulatory impacts when entering into derivatives contracts. Philippe was the lead associate on award-winning and innovative multi-dealer digital bond issuances in Europe registered on Blockchain networks.
