In its first full year of activity, MyConnectivity G.I.E. has set sustainable standards in terms of connectivity for Luxembourg. As outlined in the G.I.E.’s (Groupement d'Intérêt Économique) annual report for 2023, ultra-high-speed networks were further expanded through vertical cabling in residential buildings and the elimination of socalled ‘white spots’ without future-proof technology was tackled. In addition, first steps were taken in the area of connectivity-related consumer protection, MyConnectivity’s core team was expanded, and a network of experts was established around the Advisory Community.

Providing citizens and businesses in Luxembourg with high-performing networks

MyConnectivity G.I.E. was founded in December 2021 by the Department of Media, Connectivity and Digital Policy of the Ministry of State and LU-CIX Management G.I.E. with the aim of further advancing Luxembourg's digitalisation and connectivity, and thus ensuring that everyone living and working in Luxembourg has real-time access to future-proof ultra-highspeed connectivity.

MyConnectivity therefore plays a central role in Luxembourg's development, as Elisabeth Margue, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister for Media and Connectivity, emphasises: ‘In times of rapidly advancing digitalisation, very high-capacity communications networks are the backbone of socio-economic progress. MyConnectivity uses its expertise and passion to implement the government's objective to provide citizens and businesses in Luxembourg with stable and high-performing networks, which are making a significant contribution to the competitiveness, sustainability and social inclusion of our country.’

Patrick Chaussy, President of the Board, adds: ‘Our future is digital; it will be built at the Human Machine Interface - in Luxembourg as well as globally. Ultra-high-speed communication infrastructures are crucial to achieve Europe's technological ambitions and its economic and social progress. From the beginning, MyConnectivity has contributed to progress in Luxembourg, with the technological expertise of its team – and with concrete actions. With the help of our public and industrial partners, we will continue to shape the future and ensure that Luxembourg remains at the forefront of connectivity.’

Promoting vertical cabling and consumer protection, eliminating white spots

In its first full year of activity, MyConnectivity has consistently continued the activities started in 2022 to create a sustainable foundation for the coming years, says Julien Larios, DeputyCEO and Technical Director: ‘As the human element is key for us, we expanded our team and further developed our network through a number of endeavours, e.g. establishing our Advisory Community. We also ramped up dialogue with our target groups through the LetzConnect roadshow and our Future Workshop.’

With all of this, combined with very specific projects such as promoting vertical cabling and a pilot project with the municipality of Berdorf regarding the elimination of white spots, MyConnectivity concretely promoted connectivity in Luxembourg and made it visible through media coverage and its own communication channels. Julien Larios: ‘2023 was an eventful year for MyConnectivity, and we have summarised the most important milestones in our annual report, which is available in English and French.’

Continuing the initiatives launched in 2023 and inspiring new projects

According to Julien Larios, MyConnectivity created a sustainable foundation in 2023 for the years to come: ‘We will consistently continue the initiatives launched last year and in parallel inspire new projects. Upcoming milestones will include: further strategic partnerships for consumer protection, the completion of the pilot project in Berdorf, the creation of a national register for vertical cabling and the creation of a property label for connectivity. With all this we will continue to make a significant contribution to the future viability of Luxembourg.’
