Deloitte study foresees similar trends for Luxembourg and global organizations with main potential for progress in developing leadership and employee engagement
Human Capital Trends 2015: Luxembourg and organizations worldwide need to rethink their way of managing people
Achieving the necessary transformation of work to effectively respond will require bold and innovative thinking, questioning longstanding practices and habits and a greater focus on culture as a key element in driving both workplace change and business success
Basil Sommerfeld, Partner of Operations Excellence & Human Capital at Deloitte Luxembourg
Culture & engagement is the top issue currently facing 91% of Luxembourg and 87% of global HR and business leaders. A strong corporate culture is thus of utmost importance for Luxembourg HR leaders to attract the right type of employees and to drive change in the workplace. Yet, the majority of organizations are still failing to take action to improve their culture, potentially jeopardizing future growth. These are some of the key results of Deloitte Luxembourg’s recent country report “Human Capital Trends 2015: Leading in the New World of Work” launched on Wednesday, 29 April at a Deloitte conference.
The Luxembourg results are based on the global Deloitte Human Capital Trends survey, conducted among more than 3,300 HR and business leaders in 106 countries, one of the largest global studies of talent, leadership and HR challenges. Complementing the global analysis, the Luxembourg country report includes responses from 70 local participants reflecting similar priorities in terms of human capital trends in 2015 as compared to the global results. ‘Culture & engagement’ and ‘leadership’ are leading the trends’ list in the Grand Duchy and globally, followed by ‘learning & development’ as a newcomer in the top three priorities.
According to the Luxembourg report, 45% of the 70 Luxembourg participants surveyed considered ‘culture & engagement’ as very important, whereas only 12% believe their organizations to be ready to address related needs. “Achieving the necessary transformation of work to effectively respond will require bold and innovative thinking, questioning longstanding practices and habits and a greater focus on culture as a key element in driving both workplace change and business success,” states Basil Sommerfeld, Partner of Operations Excellence & Human Capital at Deloitte Luxembourg.
The second highest rated trend indicated by the respondents is ‘leadership’: Last year’s top priority remains a crucial issue for 43% of the leading HR professionals in Luxembourg. Although the senior executives surveyed indicated that they are committed to developing leadership skills at all levels of their organization, professionals see a discrepancy between the requirements and their capabilities to properly identify and engage future leaders – an impression that has slightly increased as compared to last year.
“’Leading in the new world’ requires a dramatic change in strategies for leadership and talent, which is why little more than half of the HR leaders surveyed in Luxembourg are expecting an increase in the HR investments over the next one and a half years”, concludes Sommerfeld.
