The Satispay smart payment revolution arrives in Luxembourg
Auchan Retail Luxembourg chooses Satispay for secure payments of its new service “Les Paniers Auchan”.
A new era for mobile payment in Luxembourg is about to begin with the partnership between Satispay – an innovative bank-account enabled mobile payment solution, totally independent from credit/debit card networks – and Auchan Retail Luxembourg – one of the leading supermarket brands. Satispay oers an instant, secure and contactless mobile payment experience: a solution that perfectly meets the health requirements of today's measures. That is why Auchan Luxembourg chose Satispay as the preferred payment method for its new service “Les Paniers Auchan” . This service oers a choice of dierent shopping baskets – filled with fruit, vegetables, meat, fish and your everyday favourite products – and inspiring recipes to cook with these products. The baskets can be delivered to your doorstep or picked up directly at the store (Click & Collect). Auchan is the first big retailer in Luxembourg to collaborate with Satispay.
HOW IT WORKS
Satispay is a mobile payment solution, compatible with any bank account in the Euro zone. The solution is oered by an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) based in Luxembourg. Satispay was launched in Italy, where the platform is already used by more than one million consumers and 100,000 merchants. Building on this success, Satispay now wants to win over the European market, starting with Luxembourg where 70 stores have already chosen to activate it. The solution aims to make life easier for users and help merchants and customers cope with the COVID-19 emergency. This smart application is ideal for contactless payments in-store or remotely and to exchange money between friends in an easy and intuitive way.
Ease of installation and use and maximum security, for both users and merchants, are just some of the reasons that led Auchan to choose the Satispay platform as their partner for its new service “Les Paniers Auchan”. Consumers order the basket(s) of their choice online, pay with their Satispay application and choose to have them delivered to their homes or pick them up directly from Auchan stores at Cloche d'Or or Kirchberg.
By allowing customers to shop online, Auchan Retail Luxembourg seeks to regulate the number of customers in store, thus providing a safer and more convenient shopping experience for all its customers and employees.
To benefit from the new service, Auchan Retail Luxembourg customers simply need to activate a Satispay account.
“ During the COVID-19 emergency, our priority is to serve our customers while ensuring their safety and that of our employees. As a result , we quickly had to offer our customers a new, convenient and secure way to shop, both from a health and payment perspective. That is exactly what we can now provide with Satispay,” says Cyril Dreesen, Managing Director Auchan Retail Luxembourg.
Satispay is free of charge for consumers, who can easily download the application to their smartphone via the App Store and Google Play. The registration process is simple: a new user only needs to enter his IBAN and an identification document to be activated by the Satispay team. Once the verification procedure is finalized, the user can then use Satispay to benefit from the new service of Auchan Retail Luxembourg, to purchase products in more than 70 shops in Luxembourg or to exchange money between friends and discover the many other features of the application.
Customers must provide their mobile phone number so that, once their order is ready, Auchan Retail Luxembourg can send them a payment request directly on the Satispay application.
During this emergency the value of smart solutions such as Satispay has become greater than ever. As also the World Health Organisation stated, using cash or other payment methods that include contact with any device could be a hazard and could spread the infection of the virus. That is why the young fintech decided to quickly develop a new payment function to help thousands of merchants abroad. This new functionality, now available in Luxembourg, allows merchants to highlight their delivery and take-away services directly in the application, thus promoting social distancing measures.
Alberto Dalmasso, co-founder and CEO of Satispay, said: " We have a special bond with Luxembourg as we chose the country to open our second headquarter and to also register our Electronic Money Institution license. When the COVID-19 emergency first started, we thought it would be better to slow down our international development . But when we saw how our platform could really support small and big merchants, who now see our app as a method to organise their delivery and take-away services, we decided to go ahead with the original plan. That is why we are working with Auchan, who found in us a suitable partner for a fast and easy implementation of their latest and very important service. We now hope to also be able to help other merchant and users in Luxembourg.”
